Reflection on Finished Shoe Sculpture

I think that the outcome of my shoe could have been alot better i just think with different materials it would have looked more realistic. The shoe is vere flexible so it was difficult to re-create the curves and such that is has. But i think that my shoe turned out pretty good at the end i think i could probably spend a little more time on it and add the finishing details but over all i think it was a job well done the shoe looks pretty life like i guess you could say but more detail would not hurt.

Reflection on shoe sculpture in process

In art we have been working on a shoe we would like to make. I have been having some difficulty with the general shape of the shoe its very hard to recreate the curve and the flexibility of the shoe using cardboard and paper. So far im only done with the general shape and have lots more to do until the shoe is complete. At this point you can't tell the kind of shoe it is it looks more like a dress shoe right now but i am hoping with the detail and all the color and the laces it will look like my shoe.

A sculpture I remember

I think i sculpture i can most clearly remember is i went to the beach one afternoon and they were having this sand castle building competition and there was one of a mermaid and just the crazy detail and the way the sand just stayed together. I loved the detail you could add with just sand on sand and just the time the artist spent on it. It looked completely real and could be mistaken for a real thing or person except the grainy texture of the sand made it less real looking.

My skills as an artist

I think i am pretty good at the arts there are some areas where i feel more confident than others but art is one of my more skilled areas in school. Often times i doubt myself alot with what i can do i question my abilities which i guess is a bad thing. I feel like my skills are planning a project out and being able to sketch some things and just talk out and walk through with what i will do but when it comes to actually doing it i am not so quick to act. I hope this year i can be less doubtful and am able to execute things without questioning my ability.

Why Am I Taking Intermidiate Sculpture?

I decided to take intermidiate sculpture because of last year. In Art Priciples we did some projects involving wire and wood and just building stuff and learning to be dexterous. Sculpture is not one of my strongest areas in art but i thought that i would do it so that i would be more skilled in the area and just be able to use different materials to make different things. Brooks was also my last year's art teacher and my lax coach so i guess having him as a teacher made choosing to do intermidiate sculpture alot easier.
